Welcome to Toolboox.com! Our purpose is to build a community of classroom teachers, art specialists and artists who wish to create an effective classroom practice that engages students through applied and experiential methods in arts integration.
Toolboox grew out of the Learner-Centered Arts Integration (LCAI) Initiative,
a program developed in conjunction with Manchester Craftsmen's Guild
and Pittsburgh Public Schools. LCAI artists partnered with teachers
from Pittsburgh Faison Pre K - 8 Arts Academy for three years, during
which time numerous art-integrated projects were designed and
implemented in classrooms throughout the school.
Highlighted in the "Boox" are Tools that designed with the process in mind: planning, collaborating, implementing and evaluating. Click on the Teacher Handbooks icon and you will find projects that are searchable, by grade, academic disicpline and art skill.
Our desire is that the projects in the Teacher Handbook section will continue to grow, thereby creating a virtual community of educators, resources and quantifiable evidence that builds for teachers an effecitive teaching practice. Toolboox provides a space in which to share, discuss and Think Creatively!
